When “The Phantom Pain” trailer was originally released, because of the title, no one knew if it was a completely new game or simply a new installment in the Metal Gear franchise. After countless rumors and months of speculating, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), a new trailer was released confirming that the original, “The Phantom Pain” trailer, was indeed a preview teaser for the new Metal Gear game, titled “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain”. The game is currently being developed by Kojima Productions and it will of course be published by Konami. The very talented Hideo Kojima will be designing, producing and directing the game. “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” is going to run on the Fox Engine and it will be playable on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The release date has not yet been announced.
Kojima has clarified on his twitter that the upcoming “Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes” will be a prologue to “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain”, with the latter being called the “main game”. With a new Metal Gear game on its way, David Hayter revealed that he was not approached to reprise his role as Snake. While David Hayter simply said that “Well look, at least I had a good run”, I doubt that the fans of one of the greatest game series of all time will be happy with this decision. It will be very interesting to see who will be Snake´s new voice actor, I´m sure whoever it is, they will hardly be comparable to David Hayter, who will always be the voice of Snake.
